London

Whether you’re looking for art or architecture, food or football, London has been honed into a genuinely incredible city through its 2,000-year history. London is famous for its art, architecture, food and fashion, some of which it does better than anywhere else in the world. Here are some reasons why everyone needs to go to London at least once:

1. Given London’s history, it’s incredibly easy to pick out exquisite architecture throughout the city. Christ Church, opposite Spitalfields market, and Greenwich’s sprawling Royal Naval College showcase London’s Baroque architecture, while Gothic Revival in the capital can be seen at St Pancras train station and 33-35 Eastcheap – R.L. Roumieu’s vinegar warehouse now home to Black Sheep Coffee.

2. Whether you’ve got money burning a hole in your pocket or you just want to have a nose past some windows, there is no better place to experience the best shopping in the world than London. Get overwhelmed by the number of people on Oxford Street, stunned by the prices in Knightsbridge and charmed by the boutiques around Carnaby Street.

3. In case the double-decker ride wasn’t enough for you, there is also an opportunity to sail on the beautiful river that flows through London and see some more of the city. Here, you will find even more sights that will take your breath away, as well as several canals that you will be able to compare to Venice.

4. While Savile Row remains the home of the best tailors in the world, it is no longer the go-to for city boys and surgeons. With a shift in the consumer and the industry, anyone can go to Savile Row and get measured up. London’s fashion weeks – womenswear and menswear – are now the most vibrant in the world, partly down to the efforts of the British Fashion Council and young designers in London. From street style to couture, no city can match this for sartorial diversity.

5. Londoners may work hard, but they also play hard too. There’s everything any night owl could possibly want in the capital, from classic pubs, to chic clubs, quirky dive bars, theatres packed with Hollywood stars taking their turn on the boards. Whatever you decide to do, make sure you book tickets for some kind of show one evening, whether it be a West End musical, a stand up comedy show, or a great live concert. The biggest stars and the best shows always make a stop in our nation’s capital, so you’re sure to find something that will blow you away.

6. It is widely known that people in England simply adore football (soccer if you are an American) and there are many clubs playing in the strongest league in the world (The English Premier League). So, if you are also a fan of this sport, you might consider visiting a game during a weekend that you are spending there. Whether it is Wembley, Emirates, Stamford Bridge, Craven Cottage, or the newly-built Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, you know that you will be treated with a fantastic atmosphere during a high-quality football match. If this isn’t the sport of your choosing, you might consider visiting Wimbledon for tennis or watching a rugby game. There are many more options when it comes to sports and if you are a fan, you should take that chance.

As the capital of England and the largest urban area in the United Kingdom, you can just imagine why so many people are drawn to this gorgeous city. It is lucrative for both tourists and people who decide to go and live there. From its beauty, its spirit, the many things you can do, all the way to football, you see why it should be your next vacation destination.
